Talent Shows

You would think, that after numerous talent shows, we'd get sick of them right? Australia Idol, Young Talent Show, Masterchef, My Kitchen Rules, The X Factor & Australia's Got talent, to name a few. Yeah, yeah, after a few seasons, the show ends up getting axed *cue Australian Idol so why are we still engrossed by these shows? Why was THE VOICE the most watched show this week?

At first, I must admit I was reluctant to watch The Voice. To me, it was just another singing show. Another show where the winner will have fifteen minutes of fame and then you will never hear from them... some less than fifteen minutes! (Who won the last season of Masterchef again?)

I decided to watch my first episode of The Voice tonight after much prodding from a friend about how good it was and why on earth I wasn't watching it when I even have the courage to watch daytime tv! But seriously, who can resist Seal and Joel? They are both utterly insanely cool. Joel especially, sitting back casually with a toothpick in his mouth! PLUS combined with Benji, they are the ultimate team. Delta and Keith are both good as well........

So what I especially liked about The Voice was that it was an actual battle between teams! Unlike the Australia's Got Talent, the judges have to constantly choose their team which makes the singers step up even more each time and the fact that they actually owe it to their coach that they're there. The Voice was also based initially on their voice alone which means that if even one chair turned and a not so attractive person was actually singing with a great voice, they were through! I thought was was pretty awesome because I mean, although we don't like to admit it, we often choose looks over talent.

The singers on this show are actually good. I mean 'mind-blowing' good. The Battle Rounds have been intense because they are literally battling with their voice! (if that's even possible). But I think the judges are going for the more "honest" voices, which I it is fair enough otherwise I guess it means they're fake? On a side note, I really like their chairs!
