What happens in Ancient History

Writing this post during Ancient says it all! The drama girls are away. To Ms X's credit, she was trying to discuss with us extended responses however to no avail. We turned back towards our computer screens... including her.

So I am going to take the opportunity to explain what happens during class. Mostly Ms X hands us booklets of information (which are actually really useful) for a whole topic before we start it. You're probably going to assume that it would be worthwhile actually reading ahead before starting the topic however Ms X ends up reading the booklets anyway... a loud.. and we follow with highlighters. This can get quite boring sometimes but her strange method of teaching year 12 hsc actually helps us retain everything.

A lot of you wonder at how many films we have actually watched over the two years. It's funny because most of the films ALSO helps us to retain some knowledge. Here are the films we have watched and why we watched them:
  • Troy x2 - we were studying Rome. The film is quite a stretch from what we were studying butwho can complain seeing Brad Pitt was shirtless half the time!
  • Hercules - studying Greek mythology. Mostly for entertainment purposes. I think it was the last week of term.
  • The Devil Wears Prada - this was only for one lesson after the trials as a relaxation period. Nothing to do with anything really
  • Cleopatra - studying ancient Rome. Actually helped for remembering some Roman senators in our exam. But more for entertainment purposes.
  • Anastasia - I think this was the last week of year 11. Ummmm... well, no excuses for this one seeing as it would have been better suited for Modern History.
  • 300 x2 - helped with studying the Battle of Thermpoylae during the Persian Wars

And I think that's about it. So who says Ancient is such a bludge?!
