How many times a day do you say these two simple words? You might say it when someone hands you something, does you a favour or even hold your books while your struggling to open you locker. Let's face it, the phrase 'thank you' is used pretty much a dozen times every day and might now become used superficially. I know my dad says 'thank you' for no good reasons!
For example. Today I asked him to get me the bathrooms towels. As he was handing them to me, he said 'thank you'. I was wondering to myself "why on earth did he say thank you?" when it suddenly dawned on me that the definition of the phrase is pretty much obsolete. Well, to remind you, the definition is as follows:
"A polite expression used when acknowledging a gift, service or compliment, or accepting or refusing an offer"
...which my dad basically contradicted...
Anyway, the next time you say thank you, put some meaning behind it. Make sure the person knows your gratitude!
P.S
Don't forget, if you drive PLEASE say thank you to the person who is letting you overtake!
